THE CULTURE WAR WAS LOST BEFORE IT BEGAN:
"Freedom" leads to alternate lifestyles (human nature), which leads to their spread (lack of restraining force), which encourages their tolerance (sociopolitical necessity), which calls for their acceptance (social influence), which requires their inclusion ("equal protection").
"Freedom" really is slavery.
