People love their pets. Be it a cat, dog, hamster or goldfish, most U.S. residents have some kind of non-humanoid companion sharing their home. According to a survey by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA), however, cats win hands down when it comes to the sheer numbers that reside in American abodes.

 

Ken Hubbard is an antique dealer with the company 2wice As Nice in Wheat Ridge, CO, a suburb of Denver. He's also the owner of two cats pictured above: both black American Shorthairs, one is known as Lace (left) and the other is Bear.

"Cats can be fun, intuitive and loving. But they can also have an evil side," Hubbard chuckles. "They have their routines and they can be very demanding. Mine will torment me in the morning until they get me out of bed, with lots of stalking around the room and covers and a lot of meowing."

"Having them in your life can be rewarding, but with certain cats you have to be careful. Sometimes they can be temperamental and unpredictable. It's important you get to know them well," said Hubbard.

Sheriff Joe to Craigslist--STOP THE PERVERTS

When Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona isn't cracking down on illegal aliens, he's caring about our furry friends.  He spends more per creature feeding his service dogs than he does his prisoners--"they didn't commit any crimes and they work for a living."  He also runs the county's no-kill animal shelter, where animals taken from abusive owners enjoy air conditioning in the Arizona heat, while the prisoners live in tents.

SECOND APPEAL BY SHERIFF ARPAIO

TO OWNER OF CRAIGSLIST:

"POLICE YOURSELF BETTER AND

HINDER CRIMINAL ACTIVITY"

(Phoenix, AZ) His letter may yet again be ignored, still Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is reaching out to Craigs List Owner, Jim Buckmaster, urging him to better police his website wherein, according to the Sheriff, criminal solicitations are posted and then often acted upon.

Arpaio cites numerous investigations his office has conducted in the last two years aimed at ferreting out people interested in soliciting animals for the illegal act of bestiality.

So far, Sheriff's deputies have arrested five people in the Phoenix Arizona area, two of whom were convicted for their crimes. The remaining three were just arrested last week and are awaiting trial.

Arpaio's letter tells Craig's List CEO Buckmaster that the idea of "self-policing' is obviously not working and that the posting of 'terms of use' which claims Craigslist is "not responsible for the content" is woefully inadequate.

"Buckmaster must accept greater responsibility for his company and stop hiding behind excuses," Arpaio says. "But I believe it is far more likely that Buckmaster will go right on ignoring my pleas to improve Craig's List or try to solve the problems his popular website is causing."

Arpaio says his office will continue to monitor and use the site to locate and arrest people soliciting criminal activity.

Days ago, Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his deputies arrested three people including a married couple and their friend for conspiring to commit an act of bestiality with a male Golden Shepherd mix canine. Arpaio says that the three suspects used Craig's List to find a canine to fornicate with the wife while the husband and friend looked on. Shane Walker (1/24/74) and Sarah Dae Walker (9/25/78), residents of Pinal County and Robert A. Aucker (6/29/82) of Gilbert were all arrested and are awaiting trial.

Last year, two men in two separate investigations were arrested by Arpaio's undercover deputies in a hotel where they came to have sex with a German shepherd. Both were convicted.

 

Bestiality is not illegal in every state in the country but in Arizona it is a crime. In 2006, Sheriff Arpaio was instrumental in encouraging the state legislature to make the act of bestiality a class 6 felony in Arizona. END

Tentative victory for the "bear" part of the Second Amendment--in MARYLAND!

To those uninitiated into how such things work:

 

On the good side: This is a FEDERAL judge explicitly using the Second Amendment to counter a restriction on actually carrying a ready weapon.

 

On the not-yet-good side: It is just the District court, is sure to be appealed to the Circuit Court, and won't have any real power until upheld.  And then it will only apply to whatever federal court district Maryland's in (too tired to look it up) until the Supreme Court upholds it on the same grounds. 

 

It's a start!

A federal judge in Maryland has ruled that state residents no longer must show they have a good reason to carry a handgun outside their home, declaring a key provision of the state's gun-control laws unconstitutional.

Gun rights advocates said the opinion — in a relatively liberal state with some of the country's tightest gun restrictions — would help as they challenge similar laws in about a half-dozen states. Maryland officials said Monday that they are seeking a stay and will appeal the decision.

U.S. District Judge Benson Everett Legg focused on one portion of Maryland law that requires residents to show they have a "good and substantial reason" to carry a gun, such as a "precaution against apprehended danger." Legg found that the requirement, kicking in alongside background checks, was too broad and said it violates the Second Amendment.

"The Court finds that the right to bear arms is not limited to the home," Legg wrote in a 23-page ruling signed Friday.

The judge added that the requirement for issuing a handgun permit amounts to a "rationing system" to limit the number of guns carried outside the home. "The law impermissibly infringes the right to keep and bear arms, guaranteed by the Second Amendment," he wrote.

No one on the conservative/Right of the political spectrum has more sensitivity toward all different religions than yours truly.  All, that is, except Islam.  It, unlike any other religiosity today--and likely unlike any religion ever--is at war with America and the West, and its Shariah component is a foreign sedition being introduced into our society.  Thus it warrants legal suppression, and its Islamic basis warrants legal restriction.
