A review in Soldier of Fortune magazine from the time suggested these arms might be popular with law enforcement, given their military-esque ("quasi-military") look. Match them up with their extended ten-round magazines, and a workable fudd combat rifle emerges.
These G43 offshoots came in 5.56mm (6) and 7.62mm (7). (Too bad the two-round burst version wasn't available! It perhaps should be, as a short burst-fire might be protected under my analysis of full-auto in TDF 10.) Back in my youth, I thought these had great aesthetics.
