U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions Responds To Clinton Declaration Of Global ‘Right’ To Immigrate
"In a telling admission, Hillary Clinton's campaign indicated it disagrees with the fundamental premise the world does not have a right to immigrate to the United States. In so admitting, Hillary Clinton’s campaign revealed the true extent of her radical views on immigration—which apparently are that anyone has the right to demand entry into the United States. This radical position, if enacted into policy, would result in an unmitigated fiscal disaster for the American people—a fact confirmed by findings in a report issued by the National Academy of Sciences."The findings of this report, while complex, affirm Hillary Clinton's immigration policies would cause tremendous harm to federal, state, and local governments, and hurt those who have struggled the most in the United States—hardworking American citizens, and recent immigrants. Put simply, her support for amnesty, combined with her pledge to deport only violent criminals and terrorists, and inevitable failure to secure our borders will result in an even further saturation of low-wage, low-skill labor. Her support for admitting tens of thousands of refugees will exacerbate the situation.
"This report shows—without question—this population creates a net fiscal burden on the taxpayers and a continued influx will further depress wages for hardworking Americans who are struggling the most.
"For far too long, our immigration system has served the interests of the open-borders advocates—corporate interests who benefit from lower wages that result from greater labor flows. These special interests have tried to conceal the great costs of our current immigration system. They do this by citing the small gains to GDP from more workers, but they ignore the fact that every class of wage earners that is subjected to significant labor flows will suffer a decline of wages. These wage declines are the heaviest on struggling workers. Indeed, according to an interpretation of the NAS report's findings by Dr. George Borjas of Harvard University, the national economic gains that accrue from immigration come directly at the expense of wages from those most adversely impacted by immigration—to the tune of roughly $500 billion every year.
"Among those hardest hit are minorities and recent immigrants. The large immigrant flows tend to arrive in existing immigrant communities, thus, those communities suffer the greatest wage declines. This means that the dreams for economic prosperity of even recent immigrants are dashed, all because of an insatiable demand for ever more lower-skilled, lower-wage labor.
