REFERENCE POST: Featureless alternate AR stocks.

THE DAILY FUDD: E66 (EXTRA): "All this effort for things these civilians aren't even close to having training to employ -- CA ban cheat."

Think of all the time and effort and money folks thinking like him expend to make some sort of point to themselves (not so much others), when they could be maintaining a suitable baseline civilian Militia combat rifle and working to change the sociopolitical climate. Or as individuals (and these folks are all about the individual), they could just move out of California. Whatever the option, note that it's all about indulgence in a hobby. It's not truly a goal of maintaining civilian firepower. (If it was, they'd go with a less feature-laden system [three links there].) It's about what they want the way they want it. That's the childish attitude that will kill RKBA.

THE DAILY FUDD: E65: "Reply to comment on Gateway Pundit article about WV plan to challenge Insurrection gun control -- Need to be smart about it."

COMMENT: Convention of States NOW.

Every red and purple state needs to sign on immediately. We will have the 34 needed then.

MY REPLY: (No link at this time--yet to be approved)

I told people to contact State governments about a Federalist 46 stand by the States against the Election Steal. Very few people listened and did likewise. But if you insist on this Article 5 approach, be aware that liberals will engage on this and make up part of every State's delegation. They don't just stand off and yell some incantation like conservatives do. So people like you might have to actually sacrifice time and money to actually be part of the Convention. Then you have to decide what it is you're working for. On 2A/RKBA matters, odds are your views of it are in the minority among the people of the United States. Are you going to try in your supplemental amendment to include everything you want? Will you try for things like SBRs, full-auto, and even explosive ordnance? Those are things that would guarantee defeat of any amendment you managed to get out of the Convention. Or are you going to take a moderate tack: Specific provisions for suitable home and personal protection, CCW, and maybe some sort of "Militia"-type arm, with some regulation outlined? That would gain you a lot of political support from the population, as MOST PEOPLE ARE RATHER MODERATE OR NEUTRAL ON THE MATTER. But libertarians, purists, and agitator moles will complain, stir up trouble, and essentially defeat your effort or at least make you out to be anti-2A. I support the latter, because maintaining some baseline firepower in the hands of the citizenry is more important than pursuing a futile and self-destructive effort at something far beyond what can be done. Here is something I put together: https://catsgunsandnationalsecurity.blogspot.com/2021/02/the-daily-fudd-e20-no-need-to-wait.html The American people allowed the Election Steal. They are suffering the consequences. Most Patriots didn't act--though I myself did. They have to consider the new circumstances. I laid out the way.

(BTW, we need 38 States--39 after PR and DC are made States.)

THE DAILY FUDD: E63 (out-of-order posting): "Pistol brace issue proves need for engagement over incantations."

The Harris/Biden Insurrection's ATF'nE is imposing a ban on pistol braces as being Short-Barrelled Rifles (SBRs). This whole story shows the failure of the 2A activist community's foolish approach to dealing with the increasingly liberal nature of the American people. See also TDF 47.

First, a rough timeline:

1. Somebody develops a rack similar to "wrist rocket" slingshots for bracing handguns on the forearm while firing one-handed. ATF'nE basically says it's cool. (I wondered about them.)
2. People start "bracing" them against the shoulder. ATF'nE says little or nothing. (I wondered how long before this led to something from ATF'nE.)
3. People start showing off this use, including a video from NRA showing a paraplegic woman ("of Color") doing so. They essentially poked the ATF'nE.
4. December 2020: ATF'nE under pro-2A Trump administration issues admittedly flawed guidelines to set a difference between a "brace" and a SBR-creating stock.
5. INSTEAD OF ENGAGING TO CREATE BETTER GUIDELINES, most of the 2A community yells, "Shall Not Be Infringed" and merely complains about them. ATF'nE under pro-2A Trump administration pulls them.
6. The 2020 Election Steal is in progress, but most of the 2A community and others on the conservative/Right fail to follow the vision of the Founders by calling for Federalist 46 action by the STATE GOVERNMENTS, despite my pointing this out to them.
7. Harris/Biden Insurrection takes power as a result.
8. Anti-2A Harris/Biden Insurrection's ATF'nE issues the recent ruling.
9. 2A activist community: "WAAAA! THE SKY IS FALLING! SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!" (ATF'nE under Insurrection doesn't change.) Not yet, but they are making it fall.
10. I put this together, pointing out how engagement beats incantation.

I have said since long before the TDF series started that the 2A community needs to ENGAGE--that is, instead of crying like petulant children and yelling, "Shall Not Be Infringed!" as if it was some incantation that sends metaphysical occult shockwaves changing the reality of things, they should address the matters in sight, be they rational societal concerns or political threats, to resolve the matters and heading off the political threat, And doing all of this from the perspective of the FUNCTION and PURPOSE of 2A/RKBA and maintaining essential firepower in that regard. (Whew!) But they said no. And now we have this.

These videos below by a fellow from California tells some backstory on the pistol brace matter, and how we got to this point where a lot of innocent-minded and well-intentioned people (including the lady in the NRA video) stand to be hurt. This guy holds the common purist stance that EVERYTHING imaginable is protected by 2A, including SBRs. He is wrong about that general stance, as TDF10 shows, and he is wrong about rejecting out of hand SBR regulations. BUT--and this is a redeeming quality (perhaps, I hate to admit, might be a result of his California living)--he will be honest and recognize what happened with one company in particular on this. The company developed a "brace" that is clearly a stock, and even (stupidly) used the word "stock" in its promotional materials. They got a ruling on their construct from ATF'nE, which told them it generally formed a SBR. But they basically lied to their customers about that.

The first video is from December 2020 and discusses the initial guideline issuance. The second one is from January 2021 after the guidelines were withdrawn, and goes into documentation of the action by the company. The point is to illustrate a failure on the commercial side in this matter, and hopefully give something that can make common 2A supporters examine their attitudes, perspective, and approach. I urge you to watch both, but especially the second.

Had the proper route of engagement been followed at virtually any stage here, there would not be a problem. A carbine or rifle with 16-inch barrel and 26-inch overall length is more than serviceable for internal home defense, as well as being more effective at "social work" than one of these makeshift SBRs--that is, it fulfills that niche in what is "NECESSARY to the security of a free State." The tactical function of 2A is met by them. One might PREFER something else, and purists will continue their crying. And as a result--and due to their choice to accept the 2020 Election Steal--WE will lose EVERYTHING.

(And for the record, traditional-configuration pistols--like the kind liberals buy and which have the strongest defensibility in the current situationand which serve the intended purpose of a sidearm or CCW piece well--are unaffected by the recent action.)

This action by the Harris/Biden Insurrection is simply an opening move. And to give credit where due, this particular shot is leveled at something that is indeed ultimately a National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) violation. That makes it much harder to oppose, and the 2A community is in danger of losing its credibility and political capital fighting this issue as a redline in Second Amendment activism, leaning back on a purist statement every time it is asked about the substance. As I myself have said for over a decadeWE need to engage, not incant.

MOVIE REVIEW: "Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite!"

Gets 4 out of 5 paws. Technically it gets 3.5, but the novelty and heart add 0.5.

Not an actual sequel of the other two (kinda like "The Gods Must Be Crazy 4"). Definitely worth the $2.99 rental.

Operative line: "Fish don't count."

(And it could use more cats.) POLITICS: All the lead humans are White. (Beautiful.)

VIDEO: "CONELRAD.com PSA: Dan O'Herlihy" -- Actor in 1952 "Invasion USA" who went to "The Enemy" for the most contradictory reason.

After that movie about "The Enemy" (the USSR) attacking the U.S. to impose communism he now mocks, he did a film in the old USSR. He spent months at an isolated village that rarely received supplies. O'Herlihy concludes from this that the USSR could never be a threat, because they couldn't even supply their own people. He then as a result becomes an avowed socialist. It never occurred to him that he had become an adherent to a system he viewed as being unable to support its own people, or that part of that might be the excessive military spending that indeed made it a threat.

Wit: Yeah, I gots it. -- This article might help you understand how I am as awesome as I am in this field.

https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-secret-to-being-witty-revealed?utm_source=pocket-newtab

EXCERPTS:

The wittiest among us are simply people who make unusual connections between words and ideas. There’s a refreshing element of surprise to these observations that prompts a smile or a wince from the listener who didn’t see the link until it was presented.

...

For now what we know is this. “Witty thinking seems to recruit a unique configuration of neural processes that engage in seemingly contradictory modes of thought; the spontaneous and the deliberate, the generative and evaluative,” according to Geary. In other words, a wit is someone who is disinhibited in linking ideas creatively but also capable of evaluating these connections thoughtfully, thereby presenting unexpected and clever combinations.

...

Like other forms of creativity it is borne of knowledge. Having a rich vocabulary is a starting point. Curiosity is another important element. Appreciating language in all the places and ways it’s used—from pop music to literary fiction, scientific writing to slang—makes it easier to generate unusual combinations.

...

the oldest and most revered texts in the world, from the Tao Te Ching to the Bible to the plays of William Shakespeare are replete with language play.

...

Likewise, wit can reinforce boundaries, keeping out the humorless or those who aren’t steeped in the lingo and in the know. It’s an efficient way to say more with less, as in the case of a metaphor, or to expose unexpected meanings.

Statement explaining the inexplicable liberalization of social order.

"One man's 'freedom' is another man's enslavement."

The logic behind "women's lib" and "civil rights" all point to "same-sex marriage" and "trans-rights." All exist by claiming the umbrella of "equal protection." All ignore science and reality in favor of PC "equality." And with marriage, SCOTUS officially and explicitly did so.

So now society, and each of us in it, is forced to one extent or another to act as if certain true things simply aren't true. And our people--our civic nation, our demographic, whatever--suffer a degradation that comes from ignoring nature.

THE DAILY FUDD: E62: "'Quasi-military' rifles of the 1980s--the SL 6 and 7 series."

A review in Soldier of Fortune magazine from the time suggested these arms might be popular with law enforcement, given their military-esque ("quasi-military") look. Match them up with their extended ten-round magazines, and a workable fudd combat rifle emerges.

These G43 offshoots came in 5.56mm (6) and 7.62mm (7). (Too bad the two-round burst version wasn't available! It perhaps should be, as a short burst-fire might be protected under my analysis of full-auto in TDF 10.) Back in my youth, I thought these had great aesthetics.

THE DAILY FUDD: E59: "Video on ammo shortage/high prices, with my--that is, THE--explanation."

Why This Ammo Shortage Is Different - YouTube

MY COMMENT:

It goes to how capitalism rations supplies. Price jump in crisis situations supposedly makes people only buy what they need, leaving some for others. It has its weaknesses to say the least, but it's the nature of our economic system. An alternative would be a government-directed rationing system--so much ammo per family based on size, nature, caliber, and need.

Walter Williams, a noted libertarian, discusses the theory about capitalism here: https://townhall.com/columnists/walterewilliams/2005/09/14/the-role-of-prices-n1402513 "Here's a which-is-better question for you. Suppose a hotel room rented for $79 a night prior to Hurricane Katrina's devastation. Based on that price, an evacuating family of four might rent two adjoining rooms. When they arrive at the hotel, they find the rooms rent for $200; they decide to make do with one room. In my book, that's wonderful. The family voluntarily opted to make a room available for another family who had to evacuate or whose home was destroyed. Demagogues will call this price-gouging, but I ask you, which is preferable: a room available at $200 or a room unavailable at $79? Rising prices get people to voluntarily economize on goods and services rendered scarcer by the disaster."

I recently tried to set the good example by selling some of my stock at barely-break-even prices. I sold out of it fast, but not sure others will do the same to help others.
