The recent favorable polling of Ron Paul fails to factor in the White Liberal Guilt factor, which will rise when, "Ron Paul Freedom Report" becomes a synonymous term for him and his candidacy. Such did not occur in 2008, because Paul agreed with the Leftists on the most important issue of the day to them–causing an American defeat in Iraq. With Hussein in office, final defeat in Iraq so close, and his ideas on such matters so far to the Left of Obama as to potentially threaten his connection with his base, this is not (enough of) a positive factor for them this time around, and so we are seeing RPFR being talked about by liberal media.

It is reminiscent of how the Legged One, Ann Coulter, described what happened to SEN Bob Packwood. For the longest time, his sexual harassment was ignored by the Lamestream Media and women's groups because they saw the need for his pro-choice vote in the Senate. Once a sufficient pro-choice majority was achieved and he was no longer needed, the indignation and outcry against him started. Likewise, in the present case, Paul's anti-American stance is far less needful to the Left, and we are thus seeing him knocked down already. Some might argue that they should wait until he's the nominee or runs third-party, but perhaps they see that he can't get the nomination and is highly unlikely to run apart from the GOP. So they are getting their WLG work in now, perhaps setting up using Ron Paul's presence in the Republican field to tar whoever ends up as the nominee against the Great Black Hope.
