"Army Working on Lightweight .50 cal"... YET ONLY AFTER 80 YEARS OF "MA DEUCE" REIGNING!

The real lesson here is that after its adoption in 1921, the M2 .50-caliber heavy machine gun is only in recent years being seriously replaced. As good as this new weapon may indeed prove to be, "Ma Deuce," or "Mother Deuce," will remain active and effective in the world at least another generation.
