This is not simply a cultural or PC issue like mandating birth control coverage in insurance, or something silly and materialistic like the economy.  This is a national security and heritage, as well as an undeniably constitutional, issue.  Resisting "creeping Shariah" is not an interpretation of the Constitution or a facilitation of personal preference, but rather a part of supporting and defending the Constitution and securing our country and our heritage.  There is a difference.
