This article on gunsamerica.com was written by a writer for Guns and Ammo--and is hilariously stupid. He discredits SPORTS as a clearing technique, then calls for basically the same procedures. He complains about using the term "jam":
“First, don’t call a weapon malfunction a jam. Jam is something you put on toast and if you use that term to refer to a malfunction, you are labeling yourself as a novice. So do yourself a favor.”
Truly, I was going to simply address this ignorant rejection of SPORTS, but the whole article and all brought out by the comments makes that almost a nitpick. It's ridiculous. One commenter put it well:
