President Trump and Olympic hockey — women having breakdown over a joke.

Image
President Trump made the comment to say that the women’s team would be included. He was jocular about it, just as he was jocular when referencing the performance of our goalie (I won’t even try to spell his name from memory). The depth of this breakdown is bizarre. Men’s hockey is a unique sport in the context of the Olympics for Americans. We’ll have champion, skiers or skaters, or even bobsled teams. But in hockey – men’s hockey – that is not so much the case. We have tended to be deficient. The 1980 Miracle stands out because of this, and because of the political situation at the time. This 2026 victory stands out because of the 46 years, because of the traditional American deficiency in this area, and frankly because of certain tensions, we see even among our allies. Hence, for the President to treat this men’s team victory with a little more relish than the women’s team has a certain social and political logic. A lot of people might not even realize there is women’s hockey in the ...

Off Topic: I stand convinced that the Swiss Miss in Moonraker did NOT have braces.

Image
I was the one who was sure Dolly had braces. I first saw the movie on American television at about age 10 or so. My mother was watching it with me, and I could distinctly remember her making reference to braces there. So when this Mandela thing arose, I was thinking she had made a comment about the little Swiss miss having races. Thinking back, she probably was saying that it would’ve been sweet or funny or something if she had indeed had braces. My mother would notice things like that in movies and whatnot. So I am convinced it is simply people seeing a missed opportunity and reimagining the scene with braces, a vision subsequently reinforced by a number of social factors. This examination of the issue makes many good points supporting this conclusion. Including the fact that everybody would be distracted by her boobs.

THE DAILY FUDD: E283: “VIDEO: ‘Space Cowboy Lever Action” — actually might fit the bill.

Image
Actually, this would make some of a good weapon for amateur traveling between civilizations, be it interplanetary or interdimensional. It carries the space age look while having the reliability of manual action and the firepower of a lever action. And of course, it is pistol caliber to match his reliable manual action revolver. Such a traveler would actually have little use for “assault” firepower. He is not going to win a fire fight against larger numbers With modern weapons. But he might find use for a “boomstick” in some precise situations.
