Possible song (adapted) for the Patriot side in the coming civil war? Plus my loose prediction about how it will pan out.
Prediction first: I remain convinced that the coming civil war in America will be more geographical than some supposed thinkers think.
Three levels:
- Red state vs Blue state with a number of Red states initially attempting to stay neutral. Split states — those which go one way nationally, but oddly have the other side governing at state level — will probably go the way of the state government.
- Red states will have Blue pockets, mostly urban, which will be isolated. Key locations, such as memorials and industrial facilities, will be seized by the state. Blue states will struggle with Red rural areas – upstate New York and downstate Illinois being prime examples — leading to county successions some degree and formality or another to bordering Red states. This will greatly redraw the map of the war.
- Small enclaves opposed to the side dominating their area. More than citadels or Mount Carmels, but often less than counties. Yet with a certain geographical definition.
Private vigilante actions will be tacitly approved by a given area’s dominating power.
Few vast areas will be actually contested territory at the onset. Modern technology will limit areas of “Rat Patrol”-type scenarios, with forces maneuvering and posts established without regard to war geography. The deserts of the southwest and politically odd areas like Minnesota and perhaps Colorado may see some of this.
Military facilities would default toward the party holding White House at the onset. But soon the sentiments of individual personnel would cause division. Red sympathizers may outnumber Blue, though they are traditionally less likely to go against chain of command. This may change, however — especially so depending on the triggers and fundamental issues of the conflict.
Some military bases may attempt a neutrality, often citing genuine national security, concerns against outside threats. Sort of comparable to some descriptions of the French army during the French Revolution. Such would almost exclusively happen at posts with Red-sympathizing leadership, for the same reason, stated above about challenging the chain of command. Resistance to this policy would quickly emerge among Blue sympathizers. And depending on just “how Blue” the surrounding area is, this could readily drive a given post to go Red.
If Blue controls the White House, military posts would likely be locked down very quickly.
As for WMD and other such extreme actions, such would almost certainly be in support of the side controlling the national government. “Rebels“ would have trouble getting a hold of nukes.
Direct foreign involvement in the Civil War would definitely be on the Blue side, against a Red-controlled national government. More general attacks on American interests are by nature pro-Blue as well. Any attacks on the American mainland with immediately appear pro-Blue, making for a propaganda disaster for Blue.
If somehow a foreign intervention favored Red… It is hard to fathom how that could be.

- States will officially take sides.
- Blue areas in Red states will be isolated, and Red areas in Blue states will break off.
- Besieged enclaves will form.
- - A wide expanse areas will experience will be actually contested territory.
