Regarding seeming contradictions between this and the original:

- “I don’t know you well” — Trying to downplay and even cover up her interest in the boy after realizing his interest in her mother (and being disappointed); maybe should be, “don’t know you THAT well”. - Denial of pool — ??? No excuse on that one. - Father “walked out” — Original narrator is confused/deluded, and Stacy is saying, “Yeah, he ‘walked out,’ but FOR WORK!”
