*** MISSOURI ACTION ALERT! *** WE NEED CONTACT WITH TWO TARGETED MEMBERS OF
THE MISSOURI SENATE LEADERSHIP IN SUPPORT OF THE
AMERICAN LAWS FOR AMERICAN COURTS LEGISLATION
by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations and
Kelly Cook, National Field Director

Dear Lee,

As we've been reporting to our Missouri grassroots, we have seen tremendous progress in both the Missouri House and Senate regarding the American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) legislation.

As a reminder, Representative Paul Curtman is the sponsor of the ALAC bill in the House (HB1512) and Senator Brian Nieves is the sponsor of the legislation in the Senate (SB676). Both of these proposals would protect Missourians from foreign laws or legal doctrines where the application of those laws/doctrines would violate those constitutional rights. It's that simple.

Representative Curtman's bill, HB1512, has passed in the House of Representatives and we now need to see the same happen in the Senate with SB676.

Our opponents continue to hurl lies and distortions about the Missouri ALAC legislation—now even getting people from outside the state to contact Missouri legislators. We now need to demonstrate the STRONG support by Missourians to two targeted members of the Missouri Senate Leadership, Senators Tom Dempsey, Majority Floor Leader, and Robert Mayer, President Pro Tem. It is important that they be able to differentiate between the TRUE supporters of this important legislation and those who only wish to see it defeated.

As we reported in our last e-mail, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and United Voices for America have been pounding the Missouri legislature hard in opposition to the ALAC proposals—using their usual blatantly false scare tactics.

The American Public Policy Alliance (APPA), who has been working with us to see ALAC legislation passed all across our nation, recently put together a video that demonstrates—and responds to—CAIR's false accusations about the Missouri ALAC legislation. If you haven't seen it already, please take a look and forward it on to others who share your support for ALAC legislation in Missouri.

** IMPORTANT ACTION ITEM **

We need your help TODAY in sending a strong message of support for SB676 AND HB1512 to both Senators Dempsey and Mayer.

Please note that the suggested language below includes a video link. It is important that you include this link with your e-mail! Copy the link (the word "video" in the sample text below) and paste it into your e-mail. The word is the link itself.

Finally, please forward this request to everyone you know!

In your own words, please respectfully relay the following message to these two Senators.

Dear Senator [Dempsey/Mayer],

I am writing to let you know of my strong support for SB676, introduced by Senator Brian Nieves (as well as its already-passed counterpart in the House, HB1512, introduced by Rep. Paul Curtman). These proposals are incredibly important in that they protect the constitutional rights of Missourians from the incursion of foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines. We must maintain the authority of the Missouri and U.S. Constitutions.

SB676 is of the utmost importance to me and I urge you to do whatever you can to see it brought before the full Senate for a vote.

Further, as you may know, opponents of American Laws for American Courts legislation have been trying to sway Missouri legislators by distorting the truth about these bills and having those who reside outside of the state contact the legislature. I assure you, there is more than enough support for this proposal within the great state of Missouri.

I ask that you watch this short video which addresses these falsehoods with facts and sets the record straight.

Thank you very much for your leadership on this vital matter.

Sincerely,

(Your name and city)

Thank you again for all of your efforts. We will get ALAC legislation passed in Missouri with your continued help!

REMEMBER, YOUR VOICE COUNTS!
IF EACH OF US DOES JUST A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN
ACCOMPLISH A LOT!
