*** MISSOURI UPDATE AND ACTION ALERT! *** AMERICAN LAWS FOR AMERICAN COURTS LEGISLATION
CONTINUES TO MOVE FORWARD IN THE MISSOURI
HOUSE AND SENATE!
by Lisa Piraneo, Director of Government Relations and
Kelly Cook, National Field Director

Dear Lee,

First, thank you very much for all of your efforts to see Missourians' individual constitutional rights protected from foreign laws or legal doctrines where the application of those laws/doctrines would violate those constitutional rights. We have seen tremendous progress in both the House and Senate regarding American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) legislation—and we are inching closer and closer to the finish line.

Therefore, we need your support and hard work now, more than ever!

As we've mentioned before, Brigitte Gabriel and our national staff have made the passage of this bill a top priority for the 2012 legislative session. This is a vital step in the overall protection of the nation. This erosion of Constitutional authority must be stopped.

As a reminder, Representative Paul Curtman is the sponsor of the ALAC bill in the House (HB1512) and Senator Brian Nieves is the sponsor in the Senate (SB676).

***Update***

We are excited to let you know that both pieces of legislation have moved through the respective legislative chambers and have been placed on their Calendars for debate and a vote!

Again, your action now is critical. We need to show every member of the Missouri House and Senate that there is overwhelming support for these two bills and that their constituents expect them to vote "yes" when they come up for a vote.

During the last session, some Senators deliberately filibustered the ALAC legislation until there was simply no more time to pass the bill. We need to be sure that doesn't happen again and with continued calls and e-mails to the General Assembly from the folks back home, we are confident that it won't.

***Action Item 1***

TODAY and as often as possible over the coming days, we need you to urge your member of the Missouri House to vote in favor of HB1512 when it comes before him/her on the House floor. Please relay that this bill is of highest priority to you!

Please respectfully relay the following sentiments in your own words in an e-mail or phone call—and ask everyone you know to do the same.

Dear Representative,

I urge you to support HB1512, introduced by Representative Paul Curtman when it comes before you for a vote on the House floor. This legislation is important in order to protect the constitutional rights of Missourians from the incursion of foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines. We must maintain the authority of the Missouri and U.S. Constitutions.

This bill is of the utmost importance to me!

Thank you for your leadership on this vital matter.

Sincerely,

(Your name and city)
