THE DAILY FUDD: E51: "FUN VIDEO: 'Firefly' fudd firefight -- And yes, firepower is that important."

"Firefly/Serenity" is one of the iconic "space western" science-fiction franchises. I discussed it in TDF 16 ("Heller, phasers, and Firefly: RKBA's unfortunate built-in planned obsolescence--sorta") in the context of how it could depict the future world--or rather, a universe--we face, where civilian arms technology was largely frozen at a present-day (early 21st-century) level, while government/military technology continued to advance:

This raises the specter of the "Firefly/Serenity Scenario." For the uninitiated, the "Firefly" television series, with the derivative "Serenity" movie, is a science fiction franchise set about five hundred years in the future. It is perhaps the ultimate "space western," with low-tech scenes of literal horses in regular use, alongside hovercraft and holograms. Civilian arms are not dissimilar from present-day arms, often with Old West appearance and heavily manual-action. Some automatics are included, and so not banned, and I suspect creator Joss Whedon (of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame) put more Old West stuff in the show more to accentuate the "Western" element than to suggest legislation against more modern arms. At the same time, though, "federal" authorities are cruising around with full-auto and directed-energy arms. One scene features a rich civilian opening carrying a laser pistol, and the lead character mentions that the particular weapon is illegal.

Here is a clip from the episode, "War Stories." It is almost surreal seeing a firefight in the uber-high-tech surroundings of a space station and such, with a lead fighter wielding... a Winchester Model 1873 lever-action. Yet in true fudd fashion, firepower IS firepower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gd8TBAbPhs

A technical note: Much of the gunfire has a different sound than present-day fire. Perhaps it is meant to suggest advances in gunpowder had reduced the sound of firing. Such would be a good development.

A lesson of truth here: RKBA is important to many Americans, and rightfully so. I deleted a post earlier somewhat hyperbolically illustrating the deep role that the Power of Arms has in our world. Whatever one's conscience and scruples on the issue, there is no denying that the kinetic power is THE power in our age under Heaven. Rasczak was right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBxgrr0wL8M

Firepower really does matter. Whether high or low at any given time or in any given society, it really does matter. Let us keep it.

A comment that didn't meet Facebook "Community Standards" -- Was it my ego or anti-gun bias? Or, 'survey'?"

Could be the shameless self-promotion of my world-renounCed blog.

Could be me saying, "Yay. Guns."

Or, "survey"?

This would change the complexion of the country! -- "'42 million' Latin American Immigrants want to Permanently come to the US, Gallup CEO Warns."

Even without voting, their presence would act sociologically to drive politics to the Left. Native-born Americans would be compelled to "go along to get along," and ultimately as a group succumb psychologically, thereby solidifying "White Guilt" pathology and wealth transfer. "Cosmopolitanism" would destroy Western culture and suppress our heritage. (Hence, the HERITAGE role of RKBA.)

Then when these 42 million--no doubt more, as the border is destroyed--get to actually vote themselves...

THE DAILY FUDD: E50: "RKBA and Heritage (condensed compilation)."

American iconography and minimalist RKBA -- If America as we know it in heritage fails.

The weakness of any nation is its people. Human nature is flawed. And in a country with popular government--that is, "by the People"--these flaws are multiplied. So there is never a guarantee that America--that is, the United States thereof--won't fail. And if it does...

I speak only for myself here: My life is devoted to three earthly causes (not necessarily in this order): Cats, guns, and national security (which is to say, heritage). This is my calling, I do believe--my "commission," perhaps, but definitely my "commitment." Sometimes you will see "AmCom" in items about my life. That is short for, "American Commission/Commitment," whichever is better stated. That commission (I'll go with that for now) would not end even after a President Harris might bring in two minority-majority States, attack RKBA, and persecute White people. It would, though, change form. Some extremist conspiracy groups claim our government is "occupied." While I reject their flawed theories, a Harris agenda can readily lead to "occupied" being an accurate description of this country's authority.

In that event, my purpose would turn to maintenance of the American heritage spirit, along with some ancillary functions. This would be accomplished by two items:

1. The flag patch I carry in my wallet: It is the patch off of the last uniform I ever wore on duty--though if it were to be lost, I would simply replace it. Whatever a new anti-American regime might do to the country itself, that flag remains, imbued with the spirit of a country that is occupied, or perhaps no longer existent save as having a successor state in the world community.

2. A revolver (exact type to be determined): The Right to Arms is second only to Freedom of Religion as iconic of American culture. And given the private prayer and worship can generally be retained in a Leftist-Socialist state (again, PRIVATE), the outward expression of American culture is not a cross (or Star of David, or whatever), but a weapon. And the most iconic American arm still meaningful, rivaled only by a lever-action rifle, is the revolver. Essentially the invention of American COL Samuel Colt, historian John Dunham said of the early Colt Patterson model, "This may be the most important design in gun history."

Exempting non-fixed-cartridge models as fundamentally obsolete, the most iconic of this iconic form would be the Colt Single Action Army in .45 with rod ejection. However, that model has a fatal flaw in terms of a lack of safety system. However, that form and configuration--that is, single-action rod-eject--can be had today in very similar models, such as the Ruger Vacquero. Such a weapon is both still valid for serious use today, AND the least likely of modern (so to speak) firearms to be banned in an occupied America. In addition, it sorta fits within the long-time Anglo Common Law Right to Arms of the 1688 English Bill of Rights. Though technically speaking the carbine and shotgun are the descendants of the home-defense blunderbuss (the weapon commonly associated with the 1688 right), a revolver of that style has the capability of filling that role while still not rising to the capability most feared by said theoretical occupiers.

Of course, this is subject to reality. If keeping such an arm becomes untenable or requires a counterproductive choice--e.g., making keeping a better CCW arm impossible--then this piece of the operation must fall by the wayside. If only CCW can be kept, and this is held to be inappropriate for that use, then a more modern revolver would have to pull double duty. Both trace back to COL Colt, after all. Whatever the case, the symbolism remains.

NOTE: Normally I tend on the side of sheer practicality in such matters as caliber. By that measure, I'd go with the .357/9mm model below. BUT, this is case calling for iconography and symbolism. Hence, the .45 for the reasons stated below is the most logical choice. But again, sentimentality falls to practical pressures.

And so, if America falls, this is my maintenance of our spirit.

THE DAILY FUDD: E7: "The .45 (Long) Colt round."

It's the iconic fudd caliber, identified with Old West revolvers (about as fudd as one can get within the realm of meaningful firearms), even if not actually the most popular. And of course, it is reflective of our 45th President.

With the American people having betrayed their heritage in tolerating the non-unmentionable Election Steal, the efforts of the RKBA/2A community SHOULD be on maintaining meaningful firearms ownership as an element of our heritage, even if it means doing so in a minimalist way. More on that as this series continues. And with that, an iconic REVOLVER cartridge like this .45 revolver round can be a very practical symbol.

THE DAILY FUDD: E:28: "A fudd set that should appeal to both sides--plus having a 'political' symbolism."

...

Now for the fun part: Such an arms set would fulfill actually three symbolic roles. Being a revolver (and a .45), it points to the heritage maintenance role of RKBA written about in many places in the series and elsewhere. And being a .45, it goes to honoring the 45th POTUS and last legitimate President: Donald J. Trump. On the shotgun end, it would harken back to the early Right to (at least) KEEP Arms of the blunderbuss, while retaining modern tactical meaningfulness.

The picture here is that, while obviously not fulfilling the vision of 2A, there is a play on opposition rhetoric which can serve the baseline RKBA functions AND make a greater statement.

THE DAILY FUDD: E46: "Analysis of RKBA priority survey, and what the reality--society and personal--is."

Here is the analysis of yesterday's (TDF 45) priority survey (reprinted at end). The Right to Keep and Bear Arms in the Constitution and Anglo-American Common Law is not a libertarian indulgence or a delusion for supposed purists. It is a key part of our Anglo-American/Western (yea, and White) heritage--something with a FUNCTION. But too many Americans cannot appreciate that.

...

My own take on the question is that A-CCW Pistol arms should be the priority, but for an additional reason to what is given above: HERITAGE. As TDF has been saying, regardless of the Steal, America--that is, its PEOPLE--has grown more liberal. Demographics cannot be denied. Only our Electoral College system--a very UNdemocratic institution--has preserved us institutionally. With the Steal, and barring Federalist 46 action, our heritage is becoming an endangered species. As I said in TDF 22, regarding a certain cooperation with liberal gun owners:

I confess, prior to the Steal--back when I thought the American people might actually stand against the tyranny that 2A purists had claimed was the target of their keeping of higher-end arms--I was much more inclined toward concern about civil war. I didn't want the enemy armed when we--per Federalist 46--had to kill them to save Western heritage. Now, though, with the American people failing, and the preservation of American and Western national heritage on the verge of becoming a subculture waiting for the time to rise and reestablish our rightful place, conditions on the ground require a shift-fire.
...

On the Heritage factor specifically--and in keeping with the fudd theme of this series, though departing from the above reference to magazines--the REVOLVER stands particularly strong as representative of our heritage: In TDF 27, I wrote:

And the most iconic American arm still meaningful, rivaled only by a lever-action rifle, is the revolver. Essentially the invention of American COL Samuel Colt, it spawned the saying, "God created all men, but Colonel Colt made all men equal." Historian John Dunham said of the early Colt Patterson model, "This may be the most important design in gun history."

...

In terms of original vision of 2A, there is no question that C-Militia arms would be the priority. As noted in TDF 10, the early colonists and settlers largely traded their B-Home Defense arms--"blunderbusses"--for full-power arms of the time, thus making them and relatively rare handguns the functionaries of the core Blackstone defense right. A C-Militia arm was fired as the "shot heard 'round the world." Such arms and their descendants led the settlement of the American West--though it was probably the SHOTGUN (B-Home Defense) that truly tamed the land. And of course, a full-power long gun is key to the ultimate Militia vision of the Founders.

BUT, today we are rapidly becoming not the same country we were. An Election Steal went unopposed, despite the vast numbers of AW-class arms in the hands of Patriots at the call of State governments in a Federalist 46 stand against it. Culture is turning by the minute, with Leftwing movements using conservatives' and libertarians' own self-focus, materialism, and "freedom" against them. The deprecation of American heritage exceeds that of the 1960s, and two more non-White States may soon join the Union.

[As an aside: In the event of Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia actually becoming States, perhaps the anti-American insurrection will, instead of simply adding two stars to Old Glory, get truly "woke" and create an entirely different flag, as their comrades in Rhodesia and South Africa did. Such would create a hard break between the America of our heritage, and a successor state not worthy of the name.]

Unless we see a massive change in sentiment before the imminent gun legislation takes effect, our fight as Patriots will be, as stated before, as

...a subculture waiting for the time to rise and reestablish our rightful place...

Please consider.

CONCLUSION:

C-Militia arms: If of sufficient effectiveness and with a genuine development of a new cooperation on the conservative/Right and among Patriots--meaning, libertarianism is dead--with distinct communities (enclaves) retaining our traditional heritage (anyone remember an old 1990s TV show, "Time Trax"?), akin to Indian reservations, I can see a reason for making them the priority: More Community Defense function and less of a threat present on the streets. ARs and my "Homeland Defense Rifle" suggestions (TDF 19) in large numbers would be a formidable force, even with the polity subsumed in a Globalist parody of the country I love.

Yet, my hopes for such cannot at this time override the present reality, and it is irresponsible to put too many resources into what may be a lost cause. The official TDF position is that A-CCW Pistols ought to be the top priority, even if limited to revolvers. Unless a serious enclave system as described is developed, the tactical advantage of being armed while in public and the probability of success in preserving that RKBA win the day for it.

This series is about RETAINING REQUISITE FIREPOWER. Some hills are not worth dying on--that is, some issues are not worth losing the entire war in a futile effort to defend. (And some issues raised by the libertarians and purists are simply wrong!) RKBA is as practical to life as making a living and caring for one's family--be it nuclear, extended, or one lone "gun nut"
Trump supporter and his cat.
It is NOT about political play or personal indulgence. And those factors in some people's lives should not be allowed to cause a catastrophic failure of 2A, and thus deprive those American families of the GUARANTEE AND REALITY of their Blackstone defense ability, and destroy the AMERICAN AND WESTERN HERITAGE symbolized and potentially defended by our Right to Arms.

Some 25 years ago, I worked with a fellow whose father was an economics professor in St. Louis. On a visit to his son here in Columbia, they were driving past a noted "massage parlor" here with an Asian name. His politically moderate/liberal father said, "So, the Asians control the handjob industry here." It's simply the reality..

THE DAILY FUDD: E49: "Save hicap PISTOL-caliber magazines."

UPSHOT: Hicaps in pistol-caliber weapons are more important than in rifle-caliber arms, and so long as they are preserved, losses in rifle-caliber capacities have at least a chance of being restored.

From 2018, but with validity today:

Increased urban and suburban life in America renders full-power rifles less practical and legally/politically defensible from a Blackstone defense right perspective (the essential focus of Heller), and makes pistol-caliber arms more fitting from a tactical perspective. They are more akin to the 1688/89 English Bill of Rights "blunderbuss" and Blackstone RKBA. Thus, it is easier to defend hicaps and AW features on them than on full-power rifles.

Pistol-caliber long guns can be described as "overgrown handguns," and can thus draw on Heller's pistol-centric decision, as well as being--along with home-defense shotguns--quite directly the modern descendants of the blunderbuss--"And Your Honor, blunderbusses have been in truth guaranteed since 1688."

Thus, a ready argument presents itself that the defensive nature of pistol-caliber arms in the present civilian setting overrides concerns over criminal use of AW-type features and components. It certainly would aid in at least raising the maximum capacity of pistol-caliber magazines. As I noted in TDF 46:

The fact is that, apart from low-end "hunting" rifles perhaps, handgun ownership far and away holds the best chance of getting the biggest 2A-related support, even--maybe especially--in Blue States. It's core Heller, and normal pistols are less "scary-looking" than most tactically-geared long guns. It is with handguns that escaping magazine capacity limits--or at least making them far more reasonable than the usual ten (twenty would cover virtually all "standard-capacity" ones)--has the best chance.

Also noted there (drawing from TDF 22), and related to the increased urbanization of America, is the effect that gun ownership by LIBERALS might have in mitigation:
I confess, prior to the Steal--back when I thought the American people might actually stand against the tyranny that 2A purists had claimed was the target of their keeping of higher-end arms--I was much more inclined toward concern about civil war. I didn't want the enemy armed when we--per Federalist 46--had to kill them to save Western heritage. Now, though, with the American people failing, and the preservation of American and Western national heritage on the verge of becoming a subculture waiting for the time to rise and reestablish our rightful place, conditions on the ground require a shift-fire.

The idea of the liberal was that they--liberals--were key to retaining RKBA, essentially since they were the voting base of the liberals taking guns away. Yes, I know. And yet he made a point, which I acknowledged in a comment on his video:

As a Rightwing Patriot, I will say that you make a partial point on the effect of liberal gun ownership on liberal politicians, but only a partial point. The post-2YK/9-11 and 2020 growth in lower-end gun ownership--particularly handguns--can and should be used in preserving some base-level RKBA in coming years. But it will likely have no real effect on efforts against higher-end arms--ARs and the like. Things like PISTOL hicap bans might be combatted--liberals bought 9mm's with truly "standard capacity" mags, and might want to keep them), but semi-auto long guns and AW characteristics will continue to be targeted.
Continuing on, pistol-caliber arms can be distinguished tactically from full-power rifles in that the former's employment in defensive situations more often involves active movement. Someone facing an attack on the street and "bearing" a CCW piece will be seeking to move to a safer location, and a home defender with either pistol or carbine may well have to move from room to room to confront an intruder. Either situation makes reloading all the more difficult and risky.

Most, though not all, legitimate defense cases in situations where full-power rifles are most called for--e.g., Los Angeles in 1992 and Ferguson in 2014--involved set-position situations, where additional magazines can more readily, though of course not completely, compensate for lower capacity.

On the Community Defense level--"social work"--a similar template applies for 2A civilian Militia action: As in home defense, pistol-caliber long guns benefit from larger capacities when holders act is support of law and order.
As stated in TDF 46 regarding a characterization of PCCs as "semi-automatic submachine guns":

PCCs are shown to have "social work" value. It is of note that the Versailles Treaty actually treated SMGs as "police" weapons, and thus not as restricted to Weimar Germany as even Mauser 98s were. (This may account for the heavy use of MP-38/40s and other SMGs later in World War 2.) A similar distinction appears in American use of the Thompson SMG: The Army largely rejected it; with the Navy and Marines making only limited use of it. By and large, it was seen as being for police and criminals. (This would change, of course--see the pre-Heller CAN THE SIMPLE CITE BE TRUSTED?: LOWER COURT INTERPRETATIONS OF UNITED STATES V. MILLER AND THE SECOND AMENDMENT (guncite.com) and its discussion of the 1942 Cases decision.)

This historical background could serve the following:

1. Help make them "not military" in a liberal court's eyes.
2. Demonstrate their value as "posse" (low-level Militia) value in terms of civilian aiding of law enforcement:
3. Be a surrogate to full-power AW-types for gunners devoted to such things, helping to assuage those seeking those politically difficult arms and contributing to creation of a broader coalition.

Regarding full-power rifles, such weapons even with lower-capacity magazines, while far from ideal, retain some Militia efficacy with ten-round magazine limits. As with home defense, the likely deployment of 2A civilian Militia will be in set-position or other relatively sedentary conditions rather than fire-and-maneuver situations, facilitating reloading. And more significantly, hicap magazines could be issued to militiamen--especially if whoever manages to work a provision into a magazine ban to exempt pistol-caliber arms includes a far-looking provision for the RETENTION, not destruction, of any confiscated hicaps. (Such is reason for political and legislative ENGAGEMENT in the situation, not purist DISengagement.)

Even long past World War 2, some such arms remained in front-line issue for decades, despite their base weapons' obvious obsolescence, with some to this day held in mainline reserve armories.

Such arms, of course, have long been replaced in regular front-line service by every military establishment in the world (save perhaps those of a few microstates, or countries probably warranting the label of "shithole"), and for good reason. They are a generation or two behind the times in the armament world. TDF has posted much about these sorts of arms and their situations then and now. However, they are not--regardless of propaganda from whatever source--utterly ineffectual so long as that same frontline service depends on projectile-firing arms (and maybe even after that--TDF article and fun video).

This series is about RETAINING REQUISITE FIREPOWER. Some hills are not worth dying on--that is, some issues are not worth losing the entire war in a futile effort to defend. A word on "natural rights" that is radical, reactionary, and moderate all at the same time.

"If you want to know about 'natural rights,' ask the bird my cat caught, tortured, and ate last spring. Nature itself is rough and oppressive. It doesn't give 'rights.' It expresses its order and creates our needs." -- Me.

(Dad was so proud.)

"Radical," in that it departs from common (American) conservative/Rightwing dogma and acknowledges "needs."

"Reactionary," in that it denies liberal/Left bleeding-heart claims of entitlement and acknowledges a "(natural) order."

And "moderate," in that it hits both sides (above) and turns the focus to the issues themselves.

No fucking idea why the blog is doing the line break between the quote mark and "(natural)." I tried several times to fix it.

THE DAILY FUDD: E48: "'Assault weapon' ban a comin. -- Action and preparation."

Two points:

1. Work to separate pistol-caliber arms: See TDF 46 for more on this. Based on Heller and 1688/89 English Bill of Rights "blunderbuss," with aim of preserving their hicap magazines.

2. PC rifle alternatives:

More insurrection by Black people -- Hostages taken in NY, but no perps killed by police (sad).

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2021/03/blm-mob-traps-100-customers-inside-grocery-store-shutting-s-video/

Daniel Prude was the Black man who had to be killed that triggered these racial insurrectionists. Maybe if the police had complied with his request--with one round--this could have been avoided. 😁

The Daily Wire reported, police reports showed that Prude was restrained by officers while waiting for the ambulance that the cops summoned. Video evidence showed that Prude threatened officers by saying, “Give me your gun, I need it.”

As reported by Forbes, Prude “had been taken to the local hospital for suicidal thoughts about eight hours before his encounter with police on March 22.”

THE DAILY FUDD: E47: "22 MAR 2021 Boulder, CO shooting and possible weapon."

The limited reports I've been able to see point to a Trump-hating Muslim, reported to have had a "long gun." Further reporting suggests, though, possibly a Ruger AR-556 pistol.

https://safegunshop.com/product/ruger-ar-556-pistol/

AR-style pistol with arm brace.

If this was the weapon used--a pistol appearing to be a long gun--then I raised concerns about them last year. The ATF'nE was issuing regulations, but backed off due to complicated nature. With current power as it is in DC, this shooting could mark the end of them. Let us deal with this from a PRACTICAL angle, not an impossible and self-defeating libertarian or purist angle.

Cats, Guns, and National Security: A word about the pistol braces matter.  https://catsgunsandnationalsecurity.blogspot.com/2020/12/a-word-about-pistol-braces-matter.html

In all truth, it would be better to lose pistol braces and hicaps on full-power rifle calibers than hicaps on regular pistols.

Be honest and tactical.
