THE DAILY FUDD: E245: "Give Crenshaw credit: So-so GOP Congressman gives even-handed 2A defense to CNN broad after Uvalde."

Dan Crenshaw has a reputation--and not totally undeserved--of being less than the strongest on the meaty issues of the conservative/Patriot/Right. Indeed, he offered a defense of Liz Cheney against criticism on her insurrectionist vote to impeach President Trump. He was, with NeverTrumper Michael Steele, half the Republican representation in White Guilt sufferer Brad Paisley's "No I in Beer" video (3:17 point). And on RKBA issues, he acknowledges his reputation as perhaps more affirmatively supportive of some gun control measures than similar-minded colleagues.

However, setting aside the personality, a few months ago he was on CNN regarding the Uvalde shooting, and offered a rather even-handed defense of the Second Amendment and "military-style" arms. His only real insufficiency in the view (or perhaps just preference) of yours truly is in not slipping in a throwaway line affirmatively pointing to the connection of privately-armed citizens to the 2A's "Militia," opting instead a VERY barebones, but perhaps technically accurate, deflection. But this was a tactical judgment call, as was not getting into the weeds on minimum gun-purchase age. The good example is that he does come across as knowledgeable--not a hick or Teabrainer--and rejects Red Flag laws rationally--not shouting, "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!"--even including discussions of involuntary commitments, something which the TDF series has addressed affirmatively

Again, the fellow has his problems. He also shows something good and useful here. I learned a few tricks.

The video below is cut from the original, trimming out matters specific to the particular shooting.
