Gun politics, and why Obama is still better than Ron Paul

This article is offered to illustrate the tidal change on gun politics in America in the last 20 years.  It is not offered here to deny Obama's anti-gun agenda.  It is not offered here to say stricter laws could not possibly come into force.  Rather, it is offered to show how, legally and politically, gun possession is safer than at any time since the 1960s.  That is why, though the NRA must be supported and the battle must still be fought, we can nonetheless concentrate on national security ahead of gun rights.  That is to say, we could--if need be--support Obama over Ron Paul and not worry so much about Second Amendment rights.

Indeed, Ron Paul's administration would lead to the LOSS of gun rights.  Islamic Shariah law forbids arms to non-Muslims, and there is tremendous anti-gun sentiment in the European Union, the UN, etc.  So regardless of whether the sheetheads or the liberals took over the country after a Ron Paul decimation of American military power, our private guns would be lost.  This is one way libertarianism leads to the loss of liberty.
